Fedrigoni 365 is an annual collaboration involving designers, illustrators and photographers from throughout the UK, gathered together by an open call for entries. Each participant is asked to contribute a piece of work interpreting a date provided to them at random.
In response to the brief for Fedrigoni 366/2024, this design responds to the number ‘18’. It is inspired by the online slang used by the hacker and gaming communities. This style of writing, in which letters are replaced with visually similar numbers, is commonly referred to as ‘leet’ or ‘1337’. A monospaced font, similar to those used in programming and coding, subtly nods to these themes.
